Jungle Jim…

21 November, 2008

Yesterday Ian and I visited Jungle Island, which is just outside South Beach. We’ve always said we’d go, but never got round to it. What a mistake to make, we should have gone ages ago, it was brilliant. Jungle Island is home to some fantastic animals inluding albino alligators, a 20ft crocodile and a liger, a cross between a lion and a tiger, it’s huge!! The biggest big cat in the world!

ligerThe animal enclosures also have different kinds of primates and monkeys, including orangutans, these are so sweet; a pair of babies, by the names of peanut and pumpkin.

dscf2741dscf2739The biggest pleasure yesterday was with the baby lemurs, for a small fee ($45) you can play with the babies, which was totally fantastic, we had so much fun, these little 7 month old babies were so trusting and playful. It was the best spend while we’ve been here.

dscf2788dscf2781Although these lemurs are primates, with tiny faces and little rubbery hands and fingers, they’re not actually monkeys. They’re so sweet and friendly. Jungle Island is a must for any animal lover!

OMG that cat is humongous! Just Googled an albino alligator-eerie yet beautiful. I guess half the adventure comes from seeing things that you would have to physically see to believe!

    Oh those lemurs are cute!

Mike Says:- Oh god yeah, they’re beautiful creatures and it was worth every penny to play with them. It’s a memory I won’t forget in a hurry!
