Settled in..

11 November, 2008

Yesterday was Ian’s birthday and so I let him choose the itinerary for the day and as expected he chose to go up to the Aventura Mall, it’s the only place in Miami with an Abercrombie & Fitch store! So after his few hours by the pool, we caught a cab and drove up.

The mall is quite big, but not as big as some of the ones we’ve been in. It still took us a good few hours to walk around. Of course we spent quite a bit of time and money in the A&F store buying logo t-shirts  and trying things on.

It wasn’t until around 3.30pm that we realised we hadn’t eaten and so headed to the Cheescake Factory. As it was his birthday it was my treat and we had a really good lunch, we ate so much we couldn’t face any of the actual cheesecake!

After lunch we continued our tour around the mall and ended up in Macy’s. We headed for the “Men’s Furnishings” dept, it’s a name that always makes us laugh. We both stocked up an Calvins and Tommy Hillfiger pants, they’re a lot less expensive than in the UK and browsed the clothes dept, but didn’t buy anything else.

After that we’d had enough and so we caught a cab back to the hotel and headed off up to the Club Lounge for some light refreshments before hitting our room. We showered changed and then headed off down to a bar called Score on Lincoln Road. It’s a great spot for people watching and you get to see all sorts of people.

After we’d had a couple for drinks there, we walked down to jerry’s Diner for a spot to eat. I had a caesar salad and Ian had some loaded potato skins. Once we’d refuelled, we walked down Ocean drive so see how busy it was, which it wasn’t. The weekend crowd had gone and it was very quiet, so we walked back up to the hotel and then off to bed, by this time it was nearly 11pm.
