LHC Switched on

10 September, 2008

As I explained in my post the other day the LHC at CERN was scheduled for the big switch on this morning, and I was there sat in front of my telly with a bowl of breakfast as the big moment arrived. Slowly at first stage by stage they removed the barriers from around the tubes and calibrated the magnets, until finally. It happened.

Nothing, the world didn’t end as some doomsayers predicted. So science wins out again and all those prophets of doom can go scuttling back to their caves to shake their fists at the thunder and lightning!
