Archbishop Bonkers

9 February, 2008

Is The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams barking mad? I don’t know whether this man is seriously loosing his grip on reality or he genuinly wants to stir up trouble.

This is just another prime example of why church should keep its nose out of state affairs. Religion has no place in government in a multi-faith society. I appreciate that we have to have some basis for our laws and that morality normally plays a big part in law setting, but morality is a subjective thing depending on which faith or religion you follow. What’s appropriate for some isn’t appropriate for others.

We have to have some concessions for religion, it’s inevitable otherwise Arabic, Islamic and Christian countries would never be able to co-exist. Imagine a world where marriages were not recognised because of the faith in which they were performed. It just wouldn’t work, so we have to have some interfaith integration with the state and its laws.

Dr Rowan Willimas seems to speak before really thinking about how hhis remarks are going to be taken, or perhaps he does. This man may carefully plan what he says and is 100% cognicent of how his remarks are going to inflame public opinion.

He’s either very stupid, or very very dangerous. Either way, he should be removed from his post.

I totally agree with you. Religion has no place in government.
