FDNY 2008 Calendar to be the last…

12 August, 2007

A calendar featuring New York’s  hunky fire fighters has seen its last edition.  The latest calendar picturing fire department hunks features Michael Biserta as coverboy, posing shirtless in front of the Statue of Liberty.

But it turns out Biserta also appears in an explicit video called, “Guys Gone Wild.”

In a film shot before Biserta joined the department two years ago, the firefighter exposes his own lengthy fire hose at the urging of female voices and then, completely nude, heads for the shower.

The calendar is published by the FDNY Fire Foundation, a non-profit organization, that raises money for equipment and training. Last year the calendar raised $150,000. I’m guaranteeing that the calendar will raise more this year because of this so called scandal.

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta has ordered any future calendars scrapped. And Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes, himself a former fire commissioner, agrees.

“You can’t allow anything that tarnishes the reputation of the people on the job.” Said Hynes. “It was profoundly poor judgment.”

I personally think they’re being spoil sports and should get their heads out of their asses. Are these guys not allowed to have had a past before joining the fire department? I can’t see how this small clip of a guy getting his man meat out in front of a group of women and a camera lens is going to tarnish anything. It humanises the guys a little more, even enhancing their sexual allure. What’s wrong with that! My god, surely that’s why the guys are posing topless in the calendar in the first place.

At the stationhouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn where Biserta is assigned, that was the same comment from fellow firefighters as CBS tried to ask about the fallout from the DVD. They were also told Biserta wasn’t in. No kidding!

The 2008 calendar will remain on sale, but after 11 years, it will be the last.

Because the film was shot before Biserta became a firefighter, it’s unlikely that he’ll be subject to any disciplinary action.

Another thing its probably a homophobic remark as well due to the nature of guys gone wild (i haven’t seen it but i am guessing). Yes, gays can be manly, strong and hot enough to take the attention away from the straight guys. Sexual orientation has nothing to do with fire fighting.

i think the guy who wrote that is jealous and isn’t a fire hunk and has small junk ;)… fire fighters aren’t moral reformers, they prevent and protect people from fires. As long as no laws were broken on their part who cares. I hate jobs that try to use reputations as social control. Women need and want a decent calendar spread, men have their pick so why stop the awesomeness?

The whole cancellation is ridiculous! It’s a fund-raiser!

Mike Says:- Not just a ‘fund’ raiser!

I agree! It seems a real shame. The chap on the cover is quite something. Yummy. Looking forward to looking at the clip. I am reading this post at work and think best to not click through here…. May get a bot too steamy if anything! Love your blog, keep it up (now that is a lousy pun), Gary

    Ooooh! First!

I might just have to order 2 of them, just in case the first becomes mysteriously accidentally soiled.
